New Men's Health Clinic Opens in Iganga to Address Prostate and Erectile Issues

Men in the Busoga region now have a dedicated facility, Gina Male’s Herbal Clinic, to address sensitive health concerns such as prostate enlargement, infertility, and erectile dysfunction. The clinic, located in Iganga at CMS, aims to overcome the reluctance many men feel in discussing these issues, which can lead to delayed diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Faridah Natukunda, the clinic’s CEO and a urologist, highlighted that the facility offers specialized services tailored to men’s health needs. She noted that men often mask symptoms related to prostate issues by attributing them to other conditions like diabetes, further complicating early detection.
The clinic is committed to providing accessible care, including community outreach programs and free health camps for those who find it difficult to reach the facility. For infertility concerns, comprehensive laboratory investigations, such as sperm analysis, are conducted to pinpoint causes and guide treatment.
Erectile dysfunction is also a significant concern in the region, often shrouded in stigma. Gina Male’s Herbal Clinic incorporates herbal medicines into its treatment protocols. Dr. Natukunda emphasized that all herbal products are processed for medical use and are regulated by the National Drug Authority, ensuring patient safety.
Local officials, including Iganga District Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Silvace Onyaiti and Assistant Commissioner Ayub Maganda, welcomed the initiative, acknowledging the potential of locally developed medicines and the impact of sexual health on domestic well-being.
Justice David Batema of the High Court at Iganga Circuit underscored the long-standing need for such a facility, particularly for individuals with sedentary occupations that can impact health. He also advocated for the integration of traditional medicine into formal healthcare systems, citing international examples.
During the opening, First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga expressed interest in the clinic’s use of herbal medicine, encouraging the local development and utilization of natural resources for healthcare, mirroring the success of products like Covidex during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Men experiencing persistent urinary or reproductive health problems are strongly encouraged to seek early professional help rather than resorting to self-medication or silence.
