Veteran Educator Dr. Okia's Burial Arrangements Announced by Family

The family of Dr. Okia Stanley Henry, a beloved and long-serving Principal of Hillside Schools Naalya, has announced the details for his funeral. Dr. Okia, who passed away last Thursday at Case Clinic in Kampala, was a highly respected educator known for his passion for Christian Religious Education (CRE) and Social Studies (SST).
His extensive teaching career touched the lives of thousands of students across Uganda. Before dedicating 23 years to Hillside Schools, he contributed his expertise to Nakasero Primary School, Buganda Road Primary School, and Naranbhai Primary School in Jinja. Many former students, now parents themselves at Hillside Schools, are mourning his loss.
Dr. Okia’s son, Timothy Okia, shared that his father went to Case Clinic for a routine check-up on Wednesday morning. He was asked to stay for further tests due to swelling in his left ventricle. Timothy visited his father that evening and found him in good spirits, expecting to hear more details the following day.
However, to the family’s shock, Dr. Okia’s passing was announced on social media on Thursday morning before official notification. While the hospital has not released a formal report, the family suspects cardiac arrest as the cause of death.
The funeral proceedings will commence on Thursday with a service at Hillside Primary School Naalya, followed by an overnight vigil at his residence in Mukono. On Friday, the body will be transported to Pallisa District for a church service and vigil. The final burial is scheduled for Sunday at his ancestral home in Kaucho, Pallisa District, following a church service.
