Journalists have been barred from reporting on the incitement case involving former Butambala County MP Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi. The Butambala Grade One Magistrate’s Court made this decision on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
The court’s order follows an application by the prosecution, which sought to place restrictions on media coverage of the ongoing proceedings.
Kivumbi is currently facing charges related to inciting violence and allegedly managing an unlawful society. These accusations stem from a public gathering that reportedly took place on July 9, 2026, in Bugoye Village, Gombe Ward, Butambala District.
The former legislator has pleaded not guilty to all charges leveled against him.
This media restriction ruling comes at a time when the court is also deliberating on Kivumbi’s application for bail.
