Faruk Kirunda Appointed Patriotic Officer by PLU

Faruk Kirunda, who serves as President Museveni’s Deputy Presidential Press Secretary, has been recognized with an appointment as a Patriotic Officer by the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU). He is one of 82 prominent Ugandans who received this designation.

Kirunda’s new role is identified with the number PO132 within the PLU’s ranking system. This list notably includes a diverse range of individuals from government, politics, religious leadership, professional fields, and other influential circles.

The appointments were officially announced by PLU General Secretary Twalla Fadil. The newly appointed officers have been assigned sequential numbers from PO100 to PO181. Kirunda confirmed his appointment and mentioned that the PLU is under the leadership of General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who also holds positions as Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor.

Several other notable figures were appointed alongside Kirunda. These include Minister of Foreign Affairs Adonia Ayebare, former Finance Minister Matia Kasaija, Deputy Attorney General Jackson Kafuuzi, MP Patrick Musinguzi, former athlete Moses Kipsiro, businessman Jay Patel, and religious leader Owobusobozi Bisaka. The PLU encouraged the new officers to serve with dedication and loyalty.

While the exact responsibilities for these newly appointed Patriotic Officers have not been detailed by the PLU, the move signifies the organization’s ongoing efforts to broaden its influence and integrate prominent citizens into its framework. The appointments underscore PLU’s strategy to build a widespread network across Uganda’s societal landscape.
