Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister, Charles Peter Mayiga, has called upon professionals across all sectors to meticulously document their work and achievements. Speaking at an event where he received a book titled ‘Moment with Mzee’ by presidential photographer Abu Mwesigwa, Mayiga stressed that these documented records are crucial for future generations.

He highlighted that preserving professional experiences in a permanent form, such as through books or other media, creates essential points of reference. This practice, according to the Katikkiro, enables those who follow to learn from the successes and methods of their predecessors without having to start from scratch.

Mayiga urged professionals to look beyond their salaries and focus on making a meaningful impact through their roles. He posited that when professionals are intentional and dedicated to their work, their contributions will be recognized for the right reasons.

The Katikkiro also referenced a Buganda Kingdom initiative launched earlier in the year aimed at fostering excellence and boosting performance. This program encourages individuals in various fields, from farming to business and office work, to adopt practices that enhance productivity and professionalism. Key qualities for office workers include punctuality, adherence to instructions, teamwork, and maintaining positive workplace relationships.

Abu Mwesigwa, the author of ‘Moment with Mzee,’ shared that his career as a presidential photographer has provided him with immense learning opportunities through interactions with prominent Ugandans. His experience covering Buganda Kingdom activities, including Mayiga’s appointment as Katikkiro, inspired him to compile his photographic career into a book.
