Makindye Mother's Stabbing of Children: Police Gather CCTV Evidence

Detectives in Kampala are pursuing multiple leads as they investigate a tragic incident in Makindye Division where a 43-year-old Kenyan woman is accused of fatally stabbing two of her children and injuring three others. The incident reportedly occurred last Tuesday morning.
Investigators have collected 11 private CCTV recordings from the neighborhood to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy. According to sources, several of these clips appear to show the suspect, identified as Dorothy Wamwoyo, pouring liquid on a vehicle before setting it on fire. Other footage captures her movements within the house, though not the stabbings themselves.
A joint team involving the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Forensics, and ICT has been established to thoroughly examine the evidence. Fingerprints recovered from the deceased children and knives found at the scene have reportedly been matched to the suspect, directly implicating her.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Racheal Kawala, confirmed that the suspect has provided a statement alleging that ongoing domestic violence with her husband was the cause of the incident. The husband has also been interviewed and corroborated the claims of domestic disputes.
Meanwhile, three of the injured children have been discharged from Mulago National Referral Hospital after receiving treatment. The bodies of the two deceased daughters, aged 14 and 10, were released to their father for burial on August 21. The suspect remains under police guard at the hospital.
Police intend to present the suspect in court upon completion of their investigation.
