Museveni Urges Christians to Foster Economic Prosperity and National Unity

President Yoweri Museveni has encouraged Christians across Uganda to focus on building strong, prosperous families, asserting that stable households are crucial for the nation’s economic transformation and overall development.

Speaking at the Third East Africa Fire and Anointing Conference in Kampala, delivered by Vice President Jessica Alupo, Museveni urged congregants to channel their spiritual enlightenment into tangible economic achievements. “If you have spiritually seen the light, then you must do the same economically,” he stated.

The President also advocated for a unified approach to national development, stressing that patriotism should be the guiding principle for all Ugandans working towards modernizing the country, irrespective of their religious affiliations.

During the conference, which featured American televangelist Dr. Mitchelle Corral, Museveni acknowledged her charitable work, particularly initiatives aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable Ugandans. He noted that such efforts align with and complement the government’s own welfare and development agenda, drawing parallels to the biblical parable of the Good Samaritan.

Dr. Corral, in turn, lauded Uganda’s consistent commitment to hosting refugees fleeing conflict, recognizing the nation as a leader in Africa for its compassion and hospitality. Uganda currently hosts approximately two million refugees, predominantly from South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with a significant influx of Sudanese refugees since April 2023.

Dr. Ernest Benjamin Kivumbi, founder of Breath of the Spirit Ministries, proposed the construction of a dedicated conference facility for Pentecostal churches to serve as a hub for international gatherings and internal collaboration. Vice President Alupo pledged to convey this request to President Museveni for consideration, while also urging Pentecostal leaders to foster unity within their community.
