Prince Nakibinge: Productive Land Use is Key to Uganda's Prosperity

Prince Kasim Nakibinge Kakungulu, a prominent Muslim leader in Uganda, has issued a strong call to action for the nation’s citizens regarding land ownership and development. Speaking at a gathering in Masaka to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Nakibinge emphasized that land is a sacred gift from Allah and should not be left idle.

He cautioned Ugandans against the temptation of selling land hastily for quick financial gain. Instead, he advocated for its productive use, suggesting activities such as farming, livestock rearing, and tree planting. “The only way to protect it is to put it to productive use,” Nakibinge stated, warning that neglected, overgrown land is vulnerable to land grabbers.

The Prince highlighted that idle properties can not only be usurped but also contribute to deepening household poverty. He encouraged Ugandans to engage in entrepreneurship and productive work to improve their livelihoods, enabling them to educate their children and contribute to national development.

Beyond land, Prince Nakibinge also touched upon the importance of peace and unity within Uganda. He urged citizens to set aside minor differences and focus on cooperation, emphasizing that stability benefits everyone. The event, themed “Islam and Social Economic Development,” also saw interfaith participation, with Masaka Diocese Bishop Severious Jjumba underscoring shared spiritual heritage and the need for unity and love among different faiths.

The celebration also included the swearing-in of Sheikh Badr Kiruuta Wasajja Kamulali as the new Supreme Khadhi of Masaka, reinforcing the focus on community service and religious leadership within the region.
