TikToker Pressure 24/7 Granted Mandatory Bail After Five Months in Custody

Ibrahim Musana, a social media content creator widely recognized as Pressure 24/7, has secured mandatory bail after enduring nearly five months of pre-trial detention. The Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court, presided over by Neumbe Ritah Kidasa, made the ruling on Wednesday.
Magistrate Kidasa determined that Musana’s time on remand had surpassed the constitutionally stipulated 60-day limit for pre-trial detention without trial commencement. Musana faces charges including unlawfully obtaining or processing personal data and engaging in hate speech, offenses alleged to have occurred on March 5, 2026.
These charges are reportedly connected to content Musana created about the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. The prosecution contends that Musana unlawfully used Gen. Kainerugaba’s photograph and name without consent and subsequently published content on his TikTok account, @pressure247, that was intended to ridicule or degrade him.
Musana was apprehended in early March 2026 and subsequently remanded. His trial faced delays attributed to the prosecution’s process, including reviews at police headquarters and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. This prolonged pre-trial detention led Musana’s lawyer, Yasin Ssentumbwe Munagomba, to apply for mandatory bail.
In granting bail, Magistrate Kidasa stipulated several conditions. Musana is required to deposit Shs 1 million in cash, present his National ID and an LC1 introductory letter, and provide two substantial sureties. He is also barred from interfering with the complainant, witnesses, or the ongoing investigations.
This is not Musana’s first legal entanglement over his online content. In early 2024, he was granted bail in a separate case involving charges of promoting hate speech against prominent political figures. That case was later dismissed due to insufficient evidence.
Pressure 24/7 will now face his current charges while out on bail, having successfully argued that his prolonged detention without trial violated his constitutional rights.
