US Embassies Halt Visa Appointments for Global Training

The United States State Department has initiated a global training program for its consular officers, leading to a temporary suspension of visa appointment scheduling at U.S. embassies and consulates across the globe. This move is part of the ongoing immigration enforcement efforts by the Trump administration.

A spokesperson for the State Department stated that the training aims to enhance the screening process for visa applicants, ensuring a more comprehensive and consistent evaluation. The initiative is intended to help officers identify individuals who may become reliant on U.S. public benefits.

The duration and specific details of the training were not immediately provided. However, reports indicate that individuals with already scheduled immigrant visa interviews are being notified of postponements and will be contacted later with new appointment dates.
