Family Sues Administrator General, Judge Over Alleged Estate Irregularities

A family is taking legal action against the Administrator General, a serving High Court judge, and Jassa Wallia concerning the disputed administration of two estates belonging to the late Zura Mama Kasuku and Ahluwalia Gudo.

The family members, Bunny Wallia, Johnny Wallia, Ronnie Wallia, and Jassie Ahluwalia, are challenging the issuance of Certificates of No Objection to Justice Deepa Verma and Jassa Wallia. They contend that this process was irregular and exclusionary, failing to consider their legitimate interests as beneficiaries.

Court documents reveal that Justice Verma and Jassa Wallia initiated the processing of the estates on June 12, 2026. A family meeting was reportedly held the same day, but the plaintiffs assert they were neither invited nor notified, and that the meeting did not represent the wider family.

Three days later, on June 15, 2026, the Administrator General allegedly issued the Certificates of No Objection to Justice Verma and Jassa Wallia. The family questions whether all relevant information and interests were properly considered before these certificates were granted. These certificates were subsequently used to commence administration proceedings for the two estates.

The plaintiffs only became aware of these proceedings on July 10, 2026, after notices were published in a local newspaper. They are seeking a court review to determine if all beneficiaries were identified and notified, if the family meeting was properly convened, and if accurate documents were submitted.

Concerns have also been raised about the involvement of a serving judicial officer in estate administration, with the family seeking to ascertain if Justice Verma’s position influenced the process and if any conflicts of interest or appearance thereof exist. They allege potential concealment of material information regarding other family members and beneficiaries.

The family is requesting the court to nullify the Certificates of No Objection, preserve the estates, and order a new process for identifying beneficiaries and administrators. They also seek an injunction to prevent the disposal of estate assets until lawful administration is established.
