Foreign Tourists Among Hundreds Missing in Nepal Floods

Catastrophic flooding in Nepal has resulted in the disappearance of over 400 foreign tourists, alongside 170 local citizens, according to tourism officials. The disaster has impacted multiple nationalities, prompting international efforts to locate those missing.
India reports at least 130 to 133 of its citizens are unaccounted for. Australia has 34 nationals missing, with its government coordinating with Nepalese authorities for their recovery. The United States has at least 47 citizens missing, as confirmed by a spokesperson for Nepal’s tourism board.
From the United Kingdom, 33 citizens are reported missing. Canada has 24 nationals missing, according to its embassy in Nepal. Malaysia has lost contact with at least 11 citizens in the affected region.
South Korea confirmed nine of its citizens working at a hydropower plant are missing, with an additional ten stranded. Japan’s embassy in Nepal is unable to reach five of its citizens and has requested search operations.
The full scale of the disaster is still being assessed as rescue and recovery efforts continue in the flood-affected areas.
