Authorities in Kisoro are looking into the death of a 50-year-old Rwandan woman, identified as Sylvia Bubeneri from Burera District, Rwanda. She was discovered unresponsive on a Friendship Bus Company vehicle that was traveling from Kampala to Kisoro.

The incident was reported to the police on Wednesday morning by the bus company’s management. Officers were dispatched to the scene and subsequently transported Ms. Bubeneri’s body to Kisoro Hospital for a postmortem examination.

The exact cause of her death remains undetermined at this time. The results of the postmortem are expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding her passing.

This event follows similar incidents in recent years where Rwandan passengers have been found deceased on buses traveling from Kampala to southwestern Uganda. These include the case of a 21-year-old Rwandan national found dead on a Horizon Bus in January 2024, and a 32-year-old woman on a Kasaba Investments bus in July 2023.

Further details are anticipated once the postmortem report is released.
