Rally driver Umaru Dauda is gearing up for the National Rally Championships, set to take place in Kyenjojo district next month, with renewed determination. Dauda, who has previously won the Fort Portal Tourism City Rally twice, has inked a sponsorship deal with Sting Energy Drink. This partnership is expected to significantly boost his morale as he targets a third victory in the prestigious event.

“This sponsorship has boosted my morale to become national champion,” Dauda stated, expressing his belief that the support will enable him to deliver a superior performance. He also highlighted the opportunity to promote the Sting brand within the motorsport community, noting the significant following the sport commands.

Crown Beverages Ltd, through its brand manager Joseph Byaruhanga, announced the partnership, emphasizing Sting’s international association with Formula One. The company sees Dauda and his navigator Stephen Bunya as ideal partners to represent the brand’s core values of energy, endurance, and performance in Uganda’s niche market. This marks Sting’s first motorsport sponsorship in East Africa.

The decision to back Dauda was also influenced by the brand’s ongoing “Fuuna boost ne Sting” campaign, with motorsport aligning perfectly with the energetic nature of the drink. Marketing head Rogers Anguzu added that rally racing’s high energy demands resonate with Sting’s positioning as a “boost drink,” making it a natural fit to support the local championship.

Trade marketing manager Johnson Ssebugwawo believes Dauda and navigator Bunya embody the brand’s values and possess the talent to connect with fans, ultimately making the sport more vibrant. The team is confident that this collaboration will be a major boost for both Dauda’s racing ambitions and Sting’s market presence.
