UNEB Displays Candidate Registers for Over 1.6 Million Students Ahead of 2026 Exams

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has initiated the display of candidate registers for the upcoming 2026 national examinations, a crucial step involving over 1.6 million registered students. Heads of examination centres and education inspectors are tasked with publicly posting these lists at schools and district headquarters.

This exercise, mandated by the UNEB Act, aims to ensure that all registered candidates’ information is accurate before examinations commence. The display period runs for two months, from August 7 to October 7, 2026. UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer, Jenifer Kalule, urged parents and guardians to actively participate by inspecting the lists to confirm their children’s proper enrollment.

Ms. Kalule stressed the importance of this verification to avoid last-minute problems where students might be found unregistered. “This is important to avoid unfortunate scenarios where students are discovered unregistered at the start of the examination period,” she stated. Parents who find discrepancies, especially if they have proof of payment, are advised to first contact their schools and then report to UNEB if the issue is not resolved.

Beyond registration status, UNEB also highlighted the need for meticulous checking of candidates’ biodata. This includes verifying personal numbers, the correct spelling and order of names, and accurate dates of birth in the day-month-year format. The total registration figure covers candidates for the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).
