In a statement released on Friday, the company conveyed its deep sorrow and offered condolences to the Tooro Royal Family and the people of the kingdom. Hima Cement described King Oyo’s passing as a significant loss for Uganda.

With a long-standing presence in western Uganda, including its original plant in Hima, Kasese District, Hima Cement has consistently supported community initiatives in the Rwenzori region. The company’s tribute follows similar expressions of grief from various cultural, religious, and political leaders across the country and beyond.
King Oyo ascended the throne at the tender age of three in 1995 and reigned for nearly three decades. During his reign, he championed crucial initiatives in areas such as education, healthcare, environmental conservation, tourism, cultural preservation, and youth empowerment. The Tooro Kingdom is expected to announce details regarding the return of the King’s remains, official mourning periods, and burial arrangements.
