Whiskey brand Johnnie Walker has launched its new ‘Keep Walking’ campaign across East Africa, with a significant presence in Uganda. The campaign aims to celebrate personal journeys and the resilience required to move forward despite obstacles.
In Uganda, the campaign has appointed rising music star Joshua Baraka as its ‘National Walker’. This role signifies Baraka as the face of the ‘Keep Walking’ initiative in the country, reflecting his own journey in the creative industry characterized by consistency, creativity, courage, and self-belief.
The ‘Keep Walking’ campaign emphasizes that progress is defined not just by reaching a destination but by the experiences, decisions, and efforts made along the way. Under the theme ‘One Step Closer’, the campaign encourages individuals to acknowledge every effort, overcome challenges, and celebrate small achievements as crucial steps towards larger goals.
Joshua Baraka will lead a Johnnie Walker-sponsored roadshow across Uganda. This initiative intends to connect with communities nationwide, highlighting the ambitions and journeys of individuals striving to build their futures and create opportunities. The roadshow is set to conclude with a major performance by Baraka in Kampala.
“Keep Walking is about recognising that the destination is only one part of the story. The real story is everything that happens along the way, the decisions, the risks, the resilience and the courage to keep going even when the path is not always clear,” stated Christine Kyokunda, Brand Manager at Johnnie Walker Uganda. She added that Baraka beautifully embodies this spirit, reminding everyone that progress is being made with every forward step.
Baraka himself commented, “I have always believed that the journey is just as important as the destination. There are so many moments that people do not see, the work, the uncertainty, the decisions, and the small wins that eventually become something bigger. That is what Keep Walking means to me. It is about trusting the journey and continuing to take that next step.”
Beyond celebrating musicians like Baraka, the campaign will also spotlight African creators, entrepreneurs, innovators, and cultural voices who demonstrate creativity, optimism, and a community spirit. The initiative underscores that progress can manifest in various forms, from problem-solving and community building to pursuing personal ambitions and expressing creativity.
The launch signifies Johnnie Walker’s commitment to encouraging Ugandans to value their journeys as they strive towards their aspirations, highlighting that hard work, persistence, and taking that next step are fundamental before any breakthrough or arrival.
