Man Fathers Son Two Years After Wife Severed His Genitalia

Two years after a brutal attack by his wife resulted in the amputation of his penis, Moses Kawubanya, 46, has joyfully welcomed a son, Samuel Kawubanya, into the world. The birth marks a significant triumph over a traumatic ordeal that had left him publicly shamed and questioning his ability to father children.
Kawubanya’s wife, Susan Namuganza, severed his genitalia in July 2024, accusing him of infidelity. Neighbors rushed him to the hospital where doctors removed the damaged portion. While his scrotum and testicles remained intact, the severed part could not be reattached. Following this, he underwent a Shs10 million reconstructive surgery in Kampala, which successfully restored his sexual function and, as evidenced by the birth of his son, his ability to father a child.
“I stand before you today as someone who has been referred to as ‘the castrated man’ for the past two years, now celebrating the birth of a healthy baby boy. Indeed, God is truly magnificent,” Kawubanya stated during a jubilant celebration. He chose the name Samuel in reference to the biblical story of Hannah, who faced ridicule for being childless, mirroring his own experience.
His fiancée, Eva Nabirye, has stood by him throughout the ordeal and dismissed rumors questioning the child’s paternity. “Sometimes it is amusing that a small stump can produce stronger charcoal than a long-standing big tree,” she commented, reaffirming Kawubanya as the biological father and expressing willingness for DNA testing.
Medical experts confirm that as long as sperm production from the testicles remains intact, a man can father a child even after penile amputation, especially following successful reconstructive surgery. Kawubanya’s case highlights the resilience of the human body and the advancements in medical procedures.
