US Pan-Africanist Warns of 'New Colonialism', Urges African Self-Determination

Ayo Kimathi, an American Pan-Africanist, has sounded an alarm, calling on African nations to confront what he terms ‘The New Colonialism.’ Kimathi argues that this new form of external control poses a significant threat, unlike previous historical crises that caught the continent unprepared.

Speaking upon his arrival at Entebbe International Airport, Kimathi drew parallels to past subjugating events like the Arab and transatlantic slave trades, and the Berlin Conference, stressing that this time, Africa is aware of the impending challenge and is better positioned to overcome it.

Echoing these sentiments, Mr. Andrew Irumba, a speaker for the Pan-African Pyramid (PAP), highlighted the critical need for African countries to develop and implement solutions that serve the continent’s best interests. He asserted that Africa’s agenda should be driven by Africans themselves.

“Africa has problems, but Africa also has solutions to its problems,” Irumba stated, adding that external partners should engage in collaborative discussions rather than dictating remedies. He emphasized Africa’s sovereignty, intellect, resources, and the desire for the continent to articulate its own voice on the global stage.

Kimathi’s remarks come ahead of the 9th Pan-African Pyramid (PAP) Global Awards ceremony scheduled to take place in Kampala. The event is also expected to feature other prominent Pan-African figures, including Zimbabwean motivational speaker Bishop Joshua Maponga.
