Balaam Commends President, UIA for Job Creation at Mbale Industrial Park

The Minister for Local Government, Hon. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, has expressed strong approval for the role of President Yoweri Museveni and the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) in fostering job creation through the Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park.
During a recent visit to the bustling 650-acre park, Minister Barugahara witnessed firsthand the impact of industrialization on local employment and product development. He observed that the park, once sparsely utilized land, has been transformed into a vibrant hub, now employing approximately 15,000 young people, with aspirations to reach 20,000 jobs as more factories reach full capacity.
“Today, about 15,000 young people are benefiting from the park, with a target of reaching 20,000 jobs once the remaining factory capacity is filled,” Minister Balaam stated. He encouraged the local youth to seize the opportunities for employment and skills development offered by the park, emphasizing the value of the experience gained.
The Minister’s tour, accompanied by UIA Director General Robert Mukiza and investors from Tian Tang Group, aimed to understand investor operations, acknowledge their economic contributions, and identify solutions to challenges hindering industrial production. This engagement aligns with the government’s commitment to industrial parks as key drivers of Uganda’s manufacturing and economic transformation agenda.
UIA’s Director General, Robert Mukiza, affirmed the authority’s dedication to supporting investors and removing obstacles to accelerate the operationalization of industrial parks nationwide. He highlighted the goal of creating a conducive environment for business growth, job creation, and overall industrial advancement in Uganda.
The Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park is a cornerstone of the nation’s strategy to boost local manufacturing, add value to products, and generate significant employment opportunities, thereby contributing to the economic development of Mbale and the broader Eastern Uganda region.
