Kitagwenda Chief Mourns King Oyo, Extols Youth Initiatives

The cultural landscape of Tooro Kingdom is steeped in sorrow following the recent passing of His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Rukidi IV. Among the many voices of mourning is Sam Mugisa, the Saza Chief of Kitagwenda, who has joined subjects across the kingdom in paying tribute to their departed King.

Mugisa described the King’s death as a “great loss” to Tooro, emphasizing that the monarch’s impact, especially on the kingdom’s youth, will not be forgotten. “We will always miss his love for the youth and the different initiatives he championed to improve their lives,” Mugisa stated.

The Saza Chief specifically lauded Omukama Oyo’s role as a fervent advocate for young people. He highlighted the King’s efforts in raising awareness about HIV/AIDS among the youth, using his royal platform to encourage responsible decision-making and the protection of young lives. “He was an ambassador and champion for HIV and AIDS awareness among young people,” Mugisa noted.

Furthermore, Mugisa commended the late King’s commitment to tackling youth unemployment. He pointed to initiatives spearheaded by the King aimed at equipping young individuals with practical skills through livelihood programs, thereby fostering economic empowerment and productivity within the kingdom.

Residents of Kitagwenda, along with other subjects of the Tooro Kingdom, will remember Omukama Oyo for his dedication to the welfare and advancement of the youth. His passing leaves a significant void in the kingdom’s leadership during this painful period for his subjects.
