President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has announced a period of national mourning following the unfortunate demise of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru IV of Tooro Kingdom.
The President conveyed his condolences, acknowledging the significant loss to the Tooro Kingdom and the entire nation. In a directive issued from State House, President Museveni has ordered that King Oyo be accorded an official burial, a gesture signifying national respect and recognition of his role.
Furthermore, three days of national mourning have been declared, commencing immediately. During this period, flags will be flown at half-mast across the country as a mark of respect for the departed monarch.
The statement from State House emphasized the profound impact of King Oyo’s leadership and his contributions to his people and the cultural heritage of Uganda. The government has pledged its support to the Tooro Kingdom during this period of grief and transition.
