Namirembe Diocese Youth Seek Development Guidance from Katikkiro Mayiga

The recently elected leadership of the Namirembe Diocese Youth Council has sought counsel from Charles Peter Mayiga, the Katikkiro of the Buganda Kingdom. The primary objective of this meeting was to gain insights and development strategies to enhance the council’s capacity to fulfill its mandate.

The council, which was established in April and is led by Arthur Kalumba, a staff member of the Kingdom of Buganda, aims to bolster its operations and community impact.

During the engagement, Katikkiro Mayiga underscored the crucial role of faith and robust personal values for young individuals. He emphasized that Christian youth, grounded in their beliefs, are well-positioned to make significant contributions to both the Church and wider society.

Mayiga encouraged the youth to cultivate a strong relationship with God, engage in altruistic activities, and embrace their cultural heritage. He also advised them to set ambitious goals, persevere through challenges, and maintain patience and hope, noting that a strong foundation built in youth simplifies future endeavors.

Arthur Kalumba, the Chairman of the Namirembe Diocese Youth Council, conveyed the council’s gratitude to the Kabaka for his focus on youth development, stating that the youth are proud of this attention and are committed to working diligently. “The Kingdom has its eyes firmly on us,” Kalumba remarked.

The council also voiced their enthusiastic backing for a proposed health facility project, which is estimated to cost around Shs1.5 billion. They believe this facility will significantly improve healthcare access and support the developmental goals of the diocese and its surrounding communities.
