Woman Fatally Stabbed in Times Square, Suspect Killed by Police

A quiet Monday afternoon in New York’s bustling Times Square was shattered by a violent, unprovoked stabbing incident that claimed the life of a 32-year-old woman. A second victim, a 68-year-old man, sustained injuries and is currently in stable condition.

The attack began near West 41st Street and Seventh Avenue when the suspect, identified as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, approached a man and his wife. According to preliminary reports, Cisneros produced two knives from a bag and first attacked the man, stabbing him in the abdomen. This victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital and is expected to recover.

The suspect then continued her attack, stabbing Erin Piacenti, an employee of Bank of America, who later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Bank of America has released a statement expressing deep sorrow over the loss of their colleague.

NYPD officers arrived on the scene and engaged Cisneros, who reportedly threatened them with the knives, stating she would not drop them and intended to kill them. Despite attempts to de-escalate the situation and the use of Tasers, which proved ineffective, officers were forced to discharge their weapons.

Cisneros was struck by police gunfire and, like her victim, was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch noted that the suspect had a documented mental health history with the NYPD in 2018 and 2019, though she had no prior arrests. The incident, which occurred within seconds of each other, has left witnesses shaken and highlights the unpredictable nature of urban crime.
