Muhammad Kafeero Elected Leader of Wakiso Timber Traders; Calls for Unity Issued

The timber trading community in Wakiso has a new leader, Muhammad Kafeero, following recent elections aimed at strengthening sector cooperation and management. The election saw traders participate enthusiastically, underscoring their commitment to improving business practices.

During the proceedings, Emmanuel Yiga, Deputy Chairperson of Kasangombe Village Local Council I, urged the traders to rally behind their newly elected leadership. Yiga stressed that unity and discipline are paramount for navigating the challenges faced by the sector and ultimately enhancing the livelihoods of its members.

“I urge all timber traders to remain united and support their new leadership so that you can work together and improve your businesses,” Yiga stated, highlighting the collective effort required for progress.

The electoral process, coordinated by Fahad Mpima, involved a ballot system where traders on the register cast their votes. Two candidates, Erifazi Mutagaya and Muhammad Kafeero, presented their visions before the vote.

Upon his victory, Kafeero was congratulated by Yiga, who reminded him of his responsibility to lead inclusively. “You have won, but you should remember that you are now a leader for everyone. Work with all your colleagues, support them and ensure that they increase their incomes while maintaining unity,” Yiga advised.

Fahad Mpima also expressed gratitude for the traders’ participation and called on the new leader to govern responsibly and ensure equitable treatment for all.

In his acceptance speech, Kafeero pledged to serve diligently and work for the collective interests of all traders without discrimination, aiming to foster a more unified and prosperous environment for the timber business in Wakiso.
