NBS Television has solidified its position as a leading media brand in Uganda, according to the comprehensive 2026 Uganda National Media Survey. The broadcaster’s flagship programs have garnered top rankings across various categories, reflecting significant audience engagement.

“Live at 9,” NBS’s English news bulletin, has been crowned the most-watched in the country. In the realm of entertainment, the show “Uncut” was recognized as the leading program for gossip and entertainment content. Complementing this, “After 5” secured the title of the best entertainment show.

Beyond general entertainment and news, NBS also demonstrated strength in political programming. “Frontline” was identified as the premier English political program, while “Barometer” earned the top spot for Luganda political content. The survey also highlighted “Amasengejje” as the second most-watched Luganda news bulletin.

The survey, which covered 146 districts nationwide, aimed to understand contemporary media consumption habits across television, radio, print, and online platforms. Dr. Joel Isabirye, the Principal Investigator, emphasized the survey’s value in providing critical feedback for media practitioners and advertisers, enabling them to better understand audience preferences and reach specific demographics.

The findings are expected to assist media houses in refining their content strategies, help advertisers target their campaigns more effectively, and inform policymakers regarding media liberalization objectives and underserved areas. Academic researchers also stand to benefit from the detailed data on Uganda’s evolving media landscape.

This extensive survey underscores NBS’s broad appeal and its success in catering to diverse audience interests, from hard news and political analysis to entertainment and vernacular programming. The results indicate a strong and varied viewership for the station across the nation.
