Prophet Mbonye Stresses Prophetic Insight for National Relevance

Prophet Elvis Mbonye has underscored the significance of prophetic foresight, asserting that it is essential for individuals and nations to remain aligned with God’s ‘times and seasons.’ Speaking at his ninth annual Honour Day celebration at Zoe Grounds, Kigo, Lweza, Mbonye highlighted that while various spiritual gifts exist within the church, the prophetic is paramount for discerning divine timing.

He posited that a lack of prophetic understanding leads to irrelevance, not just in earthly terms but critically, in relation to “heaven’s calendar.” Mbonye cautioned religious leaders against relying solely on doctrinal knowledge, stating that without a prophetic touch, teachings can be spiritually insignificant. “You must be the man of the hour, the woman of the hour. God’s measure of relevance, all the time, is different from man’s measure of relevance,” he declared.

The event, attended by local and international dignitaries including Minister Balaam Barugahara representing President Museveni and Ethiopia’s Ambassador Etsegenet Bezabih Yimenu, was themed around praise and worship. Barugahara commended Mbonye for his spiritual leadership and prayers for Uganda’s peace and stability, especially during recent elections.

President Museveni, in a message read by Barugahara, lauded the role of faith in fostering unity and cooperation, drawing parallels between the diverse attendees and the government’s vision for African integration. Ambassador Yimenu spoke of Ethiopia’s ancient Christian heritage and invited Mbonye to extend his ministry to Ethiopia.

Performances at the celebration included worship teams from Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, reflecting the event’s international scope.
