The nation is preparing to bid a final farewell to the beloved King Oyo of Tooro. President Yoweri Museveni was among those who received the monarch’s remains upon their arrival in Uganda.
The journey began with a chartered flight from Nairobi, landing in Entebbe. From there, the body of the late King, accompanied by members of the immediate royal family, was transported by UPDF helicopters to Kyegegwa.
At the reception, the somber occasion was marked by profound grief. Queen Mother Best Kemigisa, along with her daughter Princess Ruth Komuntale, were overcome with emotion as they confronted the loss of their King.
A specially prepared hearse, a heavily customized Mercedes-Benz GLE 400d 4MATIC stretched SUV, awaited the royal procession in Kyegegwa. Branded by Precious Funeral Services, the unique vehicle features an extended body, large upward-opening doors, and a glass-paneled casket compartment, complete with custom gold Ugandan Coat of Arms plaques.
The King’s remains arrived aboard an Embraer EMB-120RT Brasilia turboprop aircraft operated by Kenya-based Freedom Airline Express. The royal funeral program and public viewing are set to commence in Kyegegwa before the final procession to the Karuzika Royal Palace.
