Buganda Deputy Speaker Advocates for Enhanced Council Operations in Ssingo

Buganda Kingdom’s Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Lwasa, has urged leaders within Ssingo County to elevate the effectiveness of their council operations. During a visit to Mityana, Lwasa stressed the importance of equipping leaders with the skills to deliberate, debate, and make impactful decisions for the betterment of the Kingdom.

This visit is part of the Buganda Kingdom’s annual program designed to enhance the capacity of its leaders. The initiative specifically targets the strengthening of council management, fostering effective deliberations, and promoting constructive debate among those serving the Kingdom.

Lwasa, accompanied by Noah Kiyimba, the Minister for Council, Cabinet, and Office of the Katikkiro Affairs, commenced their Mityana tour at the Buganda Kingdom’s Muteesa II Health Centre IV. Located at the Mumyuka Busimbi Sub-county headquarters, the health facility was lauded by Lwasa for its significant contribution to healthcare in Ssingo.

“We are happy to see the impact this health facility is having in Ssingo. More than 400 people now seek services here every day since the facility was opened last year,” Lwasa remarked, highlighting its daily usage and importance.

The Muteesa II Health Centre IV offers a range of services, including screening and treatment for conditions such as diabetes and eye ailments, alongside crucial maternal and reproductive health care. Lwasa also encouraged residents to participate in an upcoming health camp organized in collaboration with Rotary Ssingo, emphasizing the value of prevention and early detection.

Furthermore, the Deputy Speaker urged the community to enroll in the Buganda Kingdom Health Insurance scheme, assuring them it would facilitate greater access to healthcare services without imposing financial burdens. The visit underscores the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to leadership development and community well-being.

This visit to Mityana is part of the Buganda Kingdom’s annual programme to strengthen leadership capacity, improve council operations and promote dialogue and constructive debate among Kingdom leaders.
