Mityana Businesswoman Found Dead in Locked Home; Husband Sought

Residents of Mizigo B Cell in Mityana Municipality were shocked on Sunday to find the decomposing body of businesswoman Nalongo Patience Ainembabazi, 33, inside her locked rental house. Preliminary police investigations suggest her husband is responsible for her death following a domestic dispute that allegedly turned violent.
The alarm was raised by concerned neighbors who noticed a foul odor emanating from the two-roomed residence. Local leaders were alerted, leading to police intervention. Detectives from Mityana Central Police Station were forced to break into the house, which was secured from the outside with a padlock.
Inside, officers found Ms. Ainembabazi’s body in the sitting room, displaying multiple injuries including stab wounds on her back and hands, and a deep cut to her neck. A knife, believed to be the murder weapon with visible blood stains, was found on a mattress. The scene indicated the family had been living there, with clothing belonging to the deceased and her children present.
Forensic analysis of the recovered knife and blood samples is pending. Police have interviewed witnesses, and the body has been taken to Mityana General Hospital for a postmortem. Wamala Regional Police spokesperson, Mr. Lameck Kigozi, appealed to the public for any information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts to aid in his swift apprehension.
This incident highlights a worrying trend of fatal domestic violence in the Mityana District. Local leaders and rights advocates are increasingly concerned, referencing similar fatal domestic disputes reported in the area in recent years. Police continue to urge community members and local councils to intervene in reported household conflicts before they escalate to violence.
