Gen Z Hail Museveni at 82, Embrace Wealth Creation

Generation Z (Gen Z) youth recently gathered at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds to celebrate President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s 82nd birthday. The event provided a platform for young Ugandans to engage with the President’s core messages, including patriotism, wealth creation, skilling, value addition, and socio-economic transformation.

In a message delivered by Vice President Jessica Alupo, President Museveni highlighted Uganda’s progress towards a middle-income economy, attributing it to stability and good governance. He urged Gen Z and all citizens to embrace enlightenment, ideology, nationalism, Pan-Africanism, socio-economic transformation, and democracy as fundamental pillars for continued national development.

President Museveni emphasized that patriotism means loving one’s country, fostering unity, and recognizing every citizen’s contribution. He called for an end to discrimination and tribalism, aligning with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 principle of inclusivity. The President also spoke about the significance of Pan-Africanism, noting that Africa’s vast market presents opportunities for Uganda to boost trade and production.

Discussions also focused on industrialization and value addition as key strategies for job creation and enhancing Uganda’s export earnings. The President stressed that wealth creation is a collective responsibility, encouraging all households to actively participate in the economy and urging an end to corruption. He identified commercial agriculture, industry, services, and ICT as vital sectors for economic growth and employment.

Vice President Alupo commended the organizers and reflected on President Museveni’s leadership in driving national development through wealth creation and education programs. She urged the youth to leverage government initiatives and collaborate to strengthen Uganda’s progress. The Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, Hon. Minsa Kabanda, and State Minister for Finance, Hon. Amina Mukalazi, also congratulated the President and echoed the call for youth to embrace wealth-creation opportunities.

Representatives from Gen Z, including Mr. Gumisiriza Ian Jeremiah and National Chairperson Israel Kyarisima, expressed gratitude for government programs like Universal Primary Education and skilling initiatives. They urged their peers to take ownership of their future and actively contribute to the nation’s socio-economic transformation.
