Kabarole PDM Recipients Advocate for Reforms to Boost Enterprise Growth

Beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model (PDM) in Kabarole District have called for a review of how recipients are chosen for the government program. They argue that individuals who already have established businesses are better positioned to leverage the PDM funds for sustainable growth and increased income generation.

Many recipients have successfully utilized the PDM funding to expand their existing ventures in sectors such as onion growing, poultry farming, and piggery. This expansion has not only boosted their current earnings but also enabled them to reinvest in other business opportunities, demonstrating the potential for greater economic impact when funds are directed towards existing enterprises.

The call for reform highlights a desire for more targeted implementation of the PDM. By focusing on those with a proven track record in entrepreneurship, the program could potentially achieve greater success in fostering widespread economic development and reducing poverty across the parishes.

The current approach, some beneficiaries feel, could be enhanced by incorporating criteria that recognize and support existing entrepreneurial efforts, thereby maximizing the return on government investment and empowering local economies more effectively.
