Scrap Buyers Top Nile Special National Pool League as Title Race Intensifies

The Nile Special National Pool League is heating up as Scrap Buyers maintain their undefeated streak to claim the early lead in what has shaped into a thrilling three-way battle for the title. With 18 points, Scrap Buyers are just one point ahead of defending champions Roxberry, and Upper Volta sits a further point behind.
Scrap Buyers solidified their position with a dominant performance over the weekend, securing victories against Corporate Shooters (15-5), Pot It (16-4), and former champions Mbale (13-7). Key players Habib Ssebuguzi and Glorious Ssenyonjo were instrumental, winning all their matches.
Roxberry, however, are not far behind and have demonstrated their championship pedigree. They recorded convincing wins against E-Play and Nakawa (18-2) and Club 408 (12-8). Their strong individual performances are evident, with four Roxberry players featuring in the top eight scorers.
Upper Volta is also refusing to be left out of the title chase. They won all three of their home matches, defeating Capital Night (13-7), Tororo (15-5), and Greater Mukono (14-6). Captain Caesar Chandiga expressed confidence in his team’s focus and promising start.
Individually, Greater Mukono’s Julius Ssemanda leads the scoring charts with 37 points. Despite some lineup changes, Greater Mukono’s captain, Najib Yiga, believes the team still has the spirit to compete.
Further down the table, Club 408 is emerging as a strong contender after a challenging last season. Their improved performance sees them in sixth place, largely thanks to the contributions of Alfred ‘Blacksheep’ Gumikiriza.
The league is set to resume this weekend with all 16 teams competing in three matches each. The women’s league is also scheduled to commence with seven participating teams.
