Lira School Computer Theft: 12 Held, 3 Recovered

Authorities in Lira City are actively investigating the disappearance of 17 desktop computers from Premier Progressive Senior Secondary School. The alleged theft occurred during the recent term II holiday, with unknown individuals reportedly breaking into the school’s computer laboratory.
Twelve suspects are currently in police custody to assist with the ongoing inquiries. Among those detained are four school watchmen, two students from the affected school, and three teachers from a nearby school who were found with one of the stolen computers. Additionally, five other individuals are being held as alleged accomplices.
One significant development in the case is the arrest of a student from Premier Progressive Senior Secondary School. The student was apprehended while reportedly attempting to sell one of the stolen computers. This breakthrough has aided the police in their investigation.
So far, law enforcement has managed to recover three of the missing computers. The search for the remaining 14 devices is still underway. North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson SP Patrick Jimmy Okema confirmed the arrests and stated that police files will be submitted for legal review once the investigation concludes.
The school’s director, James Ocen, expressed his primary concern as the recovery of the computers in working condition so they can be returned for educational use. The suspects are being held at Lira City East Division Police Station. The police assurance is that the case will proceed to court following thorough investigation and legal guidance.
