Tororo Water Woes Eased as NWSC Installs New High-Capacity Pump

Residents of Tororo can anticipate a return to stable water supply following a crucial intervention by the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC). A new, high-capacity pump has been installed at the Kisoko booster station, a move designed to significantly enhance the station’s pumping capabilities.

The installation comes after the previous pump failed to meet the demands required to fill the 232-cubic-metre reservoir at Kisoko Secondary School. This inadequacy led to prolonged water supply interruptions for a considerable number of customers.

NWSC’s Static Plant Team, in collaboration with the Tororo Area technical team, has been working diligently to integrate the new equipment. The commissioning of the pump is scheduled for Friday, September 25, 2026.

Officials expressed confidence that the new pump will not only replace the underperforming old unit but also substantially increase the volume of water pumped. This upgrade is expected to resolve the persistent supply issues impacting approximately 292 customer connections that have been without adequate water for an extended period.

This effort is part of NWSC’s broader commitment to improving water service reliability across Tororo. The corporation acknowledged the support of its top management, including Managing Director Dr Eng Silver Mugisha, in facilitating such essential interventions.

Once fully operational, the new pump is anticipated to bring much-needed relief to the affected communities, restoring a vital service that has been disrupted.
