62 Special Forces Command Officers Promoted and Decorated

Sixty-two officers from Uganda’s Special Forces Command (SFC) have been recognized for their commitment and service with promotions to higher ranks. The decorated officers, consisting of 15 senior and 47 junior personnel, received their new insignia during a ceremony at the SFC Headquarters in Entebbe.

The SFC Commander, Major General Asaph Mweteise Nyakikuru, presided over the event. He congratulated the promoted officers and emphasized that their advancement comes with greater responsibilities and higher expectations. Maj. Gen. Nyakikuru urged them to set a positive example, maintain discipline, and continually enhance their skills to adapt to the evolving landscape of military operations.

He further challenged the officers to translate their new positions into tangible improvements in operational readiness, training, physical fitness, and overall professional competence, while also fostering unity within their units. The Deputy SFC Commander, Brigadier General John Bosco Asinguza, advised the officers to wield their authority with courage, humility, and justice, highlighting that increased responsibility demands greater accountability.

Brig. Gen. Asinguza also acknowledged the crucial role of the officers’ spouses and families, recognizing their sacrifices and unwavering support as a vital foundation for the officers’ careers. Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted, Lieutenant Colonel Nicholas Kagaba expressed gratitude to the UPDF leadership for acknowledging their efforts and pledged their continued loyalty and dedication to serving Uganda with integrity.

Lt. Col. Kagaba encouraged his fellow officers to leverage their enhanced authority to foster personal growth, develop their subordinates, and contribute to the overall strengthening of the UPDF. The ceremony was attended by various SFC commanders, directors, and other officers, along with the spouses of those promoted. Colonel Night Ikiriza, the Director of Human Resource Management, read the citations for the promotions.
