Domestic Worker Arrested in Nateete Over Alleged Baby Theft

Authorities in Nateete have successfully arrested a domestic worker suspected of stealing her employer’s infant child. The two-week-old baby was reportedly taken by the suspect, identified as Zainab Adam, who had recently begun working for the family.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Rachael Kawala, Adam allegedly met the baby’s mother, Harriet Mudondo, at Kawaala Hospital during her childbirth. Following this encounter, Adam was hired as a domestic worker. However, she is accused of leaving the home with the child without the mother’s permission.

Police investigations revealed that Adam allegedly packed the baby’s belongings before absconding. Mudondo reported the disappearance to Nateete Police, initiating a search that led to Adam’s apprehension in Arua Park.

During the arrest, the baby was found with Adam. Investigators further reported that the suspect had allegedly begun breastfeeding the infant. Police have reunited the baby with its mother.

SP Kawala has advised the public to conduct thorough background checks on individuals before hiring them as domestic workers, particularly those who will be responsible for children. Zainab Adam is currently in custody at Nateete Police Station, and further investigations are ongoing.
