Suspect in Afrigo Band Star Moses Matovu's Murder Arrested

Law enforcement officials in Kampala have announced the arrest of the main suspect in the killing of renowned Afrigo Band musician Moses Matovu. The accused, identified as 41-year-old Vincent Nsamba, was apprehended on Thursday evening in Nansana, a division within the Wakiso District.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Rachael Kawala, confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect was located in Ochange Ward, Yesu Amala. Kawala indicated that forensic teams and detectives are actively working to piece together the complete sequence of events that led to Matovu’s death.
The incident reportedly occurred early Thursday morning outside a residence in Kibuli, Makindye Division. According to initial police accounts, Matovu was allegedly at a woman’s residence when he was confronted by another man as they were leaving. Preliminary information suggests a physical altercation ensued between Matovu and the suspect, believed to be a former partner of the woman.
During the confrontation, Matovu sustained critical injuries. He was transported to Kibuli Hospital by a passerby but unfortunately passed away shortly after arriving due to the severity of his wounds.
Prior to Nsamba’s capture, police had taken the woman, identified only as Rose, into custody to assist with their investigation and help locate the suspect. Police have extended their condolences to Matovu’s family, friends, and the broader music community, reaffirming their dedication to ensuring justice is served.
