Uganda and Sweden Boost Investment Promotion Ties

Officials from Uganda and Sweden have recommitted to strengthening their collaboration on investment promotion and fostering sustainable economic growth. This renewed pledge follows a productive meeting at the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU).

The courtesy visit by the Swedish Ambassador to Uganda, Anna-Maria Olsson, to SHIPU, headed by Col Edith Nakalema, Senior Presidential Advisor on Anti-Corruption, marked a significant step in deepening bilateral relations.

Ambassador Olsson, accompanied by Lotta Segerstrom from the Swedish Embassy’s Political and Commercial Section, engaged with Col Nakalema and her team. The discussions centered on enhancing economic diplomacy and attracting investments to Uganda.

Col Nakalema highlighted the meeting as a valuable opportunity to bolster the partnership, emphasizing a shared vision for sustainable economic engagement. “The Ambassador reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening the excellent partnership between Uganda and Sweden, with a shared focus on sustainable economic diplomacy and investment promotion,” Nakalema stated.

SHIPU reiterated its dedication to collaborating with various stakeholders to fortify economic ties and create a conducive environment for investors. “On behalf of the team at the State House Investors Protection Unit, I pledged our continued dedication to effective collaboration and coordination for both countries’ enhanced economic growth,” added Col Nakalema.

This engagement aligns with Uganda’s ongoing efforts to forge international investment partnerships aimed at driving economic development. Col Nakalema expressed gratitude for the Ambassador’s visit, viewing it as instrumental in deepening cooperation and exploring avenues of mutual interest.
