Goodwill Ceramic Company Ltd has publicly affirmed that its products meet Uganda’s stringent quality and safety standards, directly addressing recent social media allegations that cast doubt on their certification. The company stated that its tiles are officially certified by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) and comply with all statutory requirements.

During a press conference at its Kapeeka Town facility, administration manager David Mawejje clarified that these assertions were baseless and intended to reassure stakeholders. “Our compliance stands firm and can withstand any official inspection and market verification,” Mawejje stated, countering claims that the company was facing certification issues.

Established in 2017 and commencing production in 2018, Goodwill Ceramic was founded with the mission to reduce Uganda’s reliance on imported tiles. The company emphasized its role in retaining foreign exchange within the country and promoting locally manufactured goods, aiming for a true “Made in Uganda for Uganda” initiative.

Further demonstrating its local commitment, over 90% of Goodwill’s raw materials are sourced domestically, bolstering other Ugandan businesses. The company also highlighted its substantial impact on employment, directly hiring over 1,300 Ugandans and indirectly supporting an additional 2,000 jobs across various operational sectors. A dedicated Chinese technical team provides support and training to the local workforce.

Goodwill Ceramic also addressed claims of being an overseas agent, clarifying that it is a fully Ugandan-registered manufacturing enterprise that pays taxes. The company has reported the defamatory social media content to the police and pledged cooperation with any investigation.

Beyond its manufacturing operations, Goodwill Ceramic has engaged in community development, notably supporting Kapeeka Primary School. The company renovated the school’s main hall, significantly improving the learning environment for pupils, demonstrating a commitment that extends beyond business interests. This local focus and sustained operation are presented as strong evidence of product quality and company integrity.
