Uganda is setting the stage to attract significant investment into its burgeoning tourism and hospitality industry. The nation is preparing to host the prestigious Future Hospitality Summit Africa (FHS Africa) in Kampala from February 2-3, 2027. This major event, officially launched on September 23, 2026, by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and Kampala Serena Hotel, is anticipated to draw a diverse group of global stakeholders.

The summit aims to convene investors, hotel owners, developers, tourism leaders, government officials, and private sector representatives. The primary objective is to explore and facilitate investment prospects and strategic alliances within Uganda’s dynamic tourism landscape.

Roy Bannister, Head of Strategic Partnerships at FHS Africa, emphasized that the summit’s presence in Uganda signifies more than just a conference; it represents a vital conduit for connecting investors with tangible opportunities across the country’s hospitality sector, potentially sparking new ventures and substantial investments.

Juliana Kagwa, CEO of the Uganda Tourism Board, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the summit as a crucial forum for knowledge exchange, partnership building, and the identification of new business avenues for professionals in the hospitality field. She pointed to Uganda’s unique geographical advantages, including its equatorial location and rich natural attractions, as key selling points for the industry’s development.

The UTB also identified a broad spectrum of investment opportunities beyond traditional hotels and accommodation. These include aviation, tour operations, food and beverage services, destination management, professional services, financial sectors, and local enterprises, indicating a comprehensive approach to developing the entire tourism value chain.

Discussions during the launch also underscored the importance of enhanced air connectivity, with the expansion of Uganda Airlines’ network being seen as crucial for strengthening regional and international ties and boosting tourism potential. The summit is expected to provide Uganda with a direct platform to present its investment offerings to international investors, while simultaneously creating avenues for local businesses to forge valuable partnerships.
