KCB Bank Uganda has officially recognized the latest cohort of leaders who have successfully completed its Emerging Leaders Development Programme. This graduation ceremony signifies the conclusion of a significant, multi-year investment in developing leadership talent throughout the organization, impacting everyone from senior management to frontline supervisors.

The program saw 120 high-potential and first-line leaders undergo rigorous training, culminating in their formal acknowledgment for completing the extensive curriculum.

This initiative is part of a broader, group-wide strategy by KCB to bolster leadership capacity, refine people management skills, foster high-performing teams, and ultimately drive sustainable business success.

The leadership development was strategically rolled out in three phases. The Country Management Team completed the Senior Leadership Development Programme in September 2025, followed by 70 middle managers in the NextGen Leadership Development Programme in March 2026. The final phase, the Emerging Leaders Development Programme, extended this structured training to the foundational levels of management.

Participants engaged in a blended learning approach, combining in-person sessions, self-paced e-learning, and practical projects focused on addressing real operational challenges within the bank. The curriculum covered essential leadership skills such as self-leadership, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, goal setting, and team building.

Edgar Byamah, Managing Director of KCB Bank Uganda, urged the graduates to embrace their roles as transformational leaders, emphasizing the importance of clear direction, decisive action, and building cohesive teams. “Your fundamental responsibility is to provide clear direction and absolute clarity, ensuring everyone you lead knows their mandate and is aligned with our vision,” he stated.

Laura Sempa, Learning Development and Talent Manager, highlighted the program’s aim to improve both talent and business performance, expecting enhanced leadership, increased efficiency, and elevated customer service. “From this programme, we are looking to see improved leadership across the organisation, enhanced business efficiency, and elevated customer service,” Sempa commented.

The graduates are expected to apply their newly acquired skills to achieve measurable improvements in customer experience, operational workflows, and overall business growth. KCB Bank Uganda has committed to ongoing support for these leaders through mentorship and further development opportunities. This milestone underscores the bank’s dedication to cultivating leadership at every level and ensuring long-term organizational strength.
