The director of King of Kings Secondary School in Amolatar District is in police custody on suspicion of obtaining money by false pretence. He is accused of taking Shs210,000 from a Senior Four candidate, Susan Angom, on June 8, 2026, to facilitate her registration for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations.
However, the situation came to light on Monday, October 12, when Angom was barred from entering the examination room, only to discover she had not been registered to sit the crucial tests.
Following this discovery, the candidate’s mother, Betty Adero, reported the matter to Amolatar Central Police Station. The school director was subsequently arrested on October 14 and is currently detained at the station.
North Kyoga Region Police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations are actively underway. He mentioned that statements from the complainant and the suspect have been recorded, and police are in the process of gathering further statements from relevant witnesses and the victim.
Mr. Okema issued a stern warning to school administrators, urging them to refrain from collecting examination registration fees without ensuring the proper registration of candidates. He emphasized that any individual found engaging in such fraudulent practices will be apprehended and face legal charges.
The police are continuing their investigation into the incident, collecting more testimonies to build their case.
