The Nakapachu Foundation, associated with popular radio personality Resty Nanteza, commonly known as Nakapachu, has been shut down by order of Jinja Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Salim Kumakech. The closure stems from numerous allegations that Nanteza collected money from individuals seeking employment abroad, primarily in Arab countries, without fulfilling her promises.

RCC Kumakech stated that his office has received over 30 complaints from residents in Jinja and surrounding districts, including Buyende, Mayuge, Namayingo, and Bugiri. Complainants allege they paid sums ranging from Shs500,000 to Shs4.5 million for overseas jobs and travel documents, but have waited for years without success.

Kumakech expressed concern that Nanteza may be exploiting her public profile to defraud unsuspecting job seekers. He noted that some complainants have been waiting for over two years for their passports and other necessary travel arrangements to materialize. The RCC also alluded to previous complaints against Nanteza at Jinja Central Police Station, suggesting some security officers may have facilitated her evasion of accountability, a claim that could not be independently verified.

However, Resty Nanteza has vehemently denied the accusations. She has described the closure of her foundation’s offices as an illegal act and has vowed to sue both RCC Kumakech and Jinja City Town Clerk Godfrey Kisseka in their personal capacities. Nanteza claims she too has been a victim of fraud by labor externalization companies, which led her to change her payment practices to protect clients’ funds and her reputation.

The dispute highlights concerns over the integrity of overseas employment facilitation services and the responsibility of intermediaries. While the RCC has ordered the closure to protect the public, Nanteza maintains her innocence and plans to seek legal recourse. The allegations remain unproven, pending further investigation by the relevant authorities.
