Geoffrey Kyagambiddwa, widely recognized as Chagga, has publicly addressed and dismissed rumors of his deportation from the United Kingdom. The singer and former talent manager stated that he is free to re-enter the UK and continue his professional endeavors.
Chagga explained that his return to Uganda was not a forced exit but rather a pause before resuming his work in London. He questioned the basis of the deportation reports, emphasizing that anyone deported typically leaves with nothing, and asserted his standing and protection within the UK. “A person who is deported doesn’t return with anything, and I am protected by the whites,” he stated.
While refuting deportation claims, Chagga acknowledged facing unexpected difficulties during his time in London. He likened the experience to navigating life in Kampala, noting the presence of both supportive and deceptive individuals. “When I reached London, life initially became hard and challenging for me,” he admitted.
Further elaborating on his disappointment, Chagga revealed that some individuals he expected to meet him upon arrival failed to do so, leaving him without anticipated support. He also disclosed pressure from associates to seek asylum by surrendering to UK police, a plan he was unwilling to follow. “My guys wanted me to do something for them, yet I wasn’t ready to do what they wanted. They wanted me to surrender to the white police for the asylum things, but that wasn’t my plan,” he shared.
Chagga’s statements aim to clarify the circumstances of his return to Uganda amidst speculation, reinforcing his intention to return to the UK to resume his work. “I was busy working in London, UK, and I will still go back and work,” he affirmed.
