Minister Urges Support for Investors to Boost Uganda's Economy

The State Minister for Finance, Investment, and Privatisation, Amina Mukalazi, has strongly urged Ugandans to extend their full support to investors operating within their communities. She highlighted that these investors are vital engines for boosting both the local and national economies.

Minister Mukalazi made these remarks during the official opening of the new Shs1 billion Buhara Sub County headquarters and staff quarters in Kabale District. The modern facilities were a corporate social responsibility initiative by Sino Minerals Investment, a company that has been involved in iron ore exploration, mining, and processing in the region since 2011.

She advised local leaders to proactively engage with investors on any arising issues rather than raising concerns during public events. Mukalazi directed local government leaders to accept donations and support provided by investors, emphasizing that these contributions ultimately benefit the community and the nation.

Mukalazi’s comments came in response to the Kabale Chief Administrative Officer’s initial threat to reject four donated motorcycles, citing concerns about their standard. She assured that issues impacting investors, such as unreliable electricity and licensing complexities, would be addressed with the relevant ministries.

Sino Mineral Investment’s Managing Director, Kong Dong Sheng, reiterated the company’s commitment to environmental protection, tax compliance, and value addition. He also announced an increase in monthly donations to the elderly in Buhara Sub County.
