Authorities in Adjumani District are probing the tragic death of a Senior Four student from Dzaipi Secondary School. The student, identified as Inyani Rogers, aged 23, was found deceased on the morning of October 15, 2026, in Ringa Village. His body was discovered hanging from a rope attached to a tree, a short distance from the school premises.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community. Police have registered the case at Nyumanzi Police Post and are working to piece together the events leading up to the discovery.
According to SP Collins Asea, the Police spokesperson for the North West Nile Region, preliminary findings suggest a possible connection to a theft. Reports indicate that Rogers and an associate were suspected of stealing ten jerry cans of petrol from a local businessman. Two individuals who allegedly purchased some of the stolen fuel were reportedly apprehended by the businessman and, during their questioning, identified Rogers as the seller.
“We are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident,” stated SP Asea. “The body was taken to Adjumani General Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination and other procedures.”
Two individuals believed to be connected to the alleged theft are currently in custody at Nyumanzi Police Post and are awaiting transfer to the main police station for further questioning and management of the case.
