The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has released Shs21.82 trillion to government ministries, departments, and agencies for the second quarter of the 2026/2027 financial year. This significant disbursement accounts for approximately 26 percent of the total approved annual budget.

Officials emphasized that the released funds are earmarked exclusively for programs that have been included in the annual budget and are aligned with approved work plans. The allocation process was determined by several factors, including projected domestic revenue, available cash reserves, and expected inflows from external financing.

Among the key sectors receiving funding, agro-industrialisation has been prioritized with an allocation of Shs224.5 billion. This funding is intended to support critical interventions in agro-industrial research and innovation, as well as general operational activities within the sector.

Accounting officers across all government entities are reminded of their responsibility to ensure the efficient and effective utilization of these resources. They are expected to focus on achieving value for money, adhering to timely procurement processes, and maintaining strict accountability for all expenditures incurred during the quarter. Failure to comply with these directives may result in repercussions.

This expenditure aligns with the government’s broader economic strategy, aiming to stimulate growth and development across key sectors of the Ugandan economy.
