The community of Lira is in shock following the tragic death of gospel singer and music producer Sam Lolo, aged 38. Lolo was discovered deceased on October 16, 2026, at his Sunrise Studio in Wigweng Cell, Oliwina Ward, Lira City West Division.

Authorities were alerted after Lolo reportedly dismissed a client from his studio around 5:00 p.m. and subsequently locked himself in a room. He was found dead shortly thereafter, with preliminary findings suggesting suicide by hanging.

According to a police report, Lolo, who was a born-again Christian, had allegedly been experiencing significant depression. This followed a period of struggle after what is described as ‘backsliding’ in May of this year, during which he had reportedly been consuming excessive alcohol.

Police from the Lira City West Division swiftly responded to the scene. Investigations are ongoing, with officers examining the premises and gathering statements from witnesses to understand the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema confirmed the ongoing investigation. He emphasized the importance of seeking help for mental health challenges. “The public is also encouraged to offer compassionate support to individuals facing difficult circumstances and to seek professional help where necessary,” Okema stated.

This incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of mental health support within the community. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to friends, family, or mental health professionals.
