Authorities are tracing the movements of an Ebola patient in Nigeria, following a statement from the Swiss government indicating she likely contracted the virus during a trip to Uganda. The patient, who is the Ugandan-born wife of a Swiss diplomat stationed in Abuja, is currently receiving treatment in a private Nigerian clinic where her condition is reported to be improving.

Nigeria announced the case earlier in the week, marking its first Ebola infection in over a decade. While some accounts suggested the woman had previously visited the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, officials from the World Health Organization and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention stated they have not received validated information confirming travel outside of Uganda.

Ugandan government spokesperson Alan Kasujja strongly maintained that Uganda currently has no active Ebola cases. Representatives from the WHO confirmed that available records show the patient spent roughly two weeks in Uganda before returning to Abuja in early October. Health agencies from multiple countries are now collaborating closely to map out her exact timeline and contacts to effectively contain any potential spread.
